Mahanagara (working title) is a history-themed, abstract space-building game being developed for play in the underground station. The game features core mechanics which draws from Bangalore’s past—its political figures, dynasties and architecture, allowing a commuter on the metro the power to briefly shape a fantastical city on the game board to their whimsy.
Born in Muscat, Oman, Roshan Shakeel enjoys observing landscapes and cities, and often draws inspiration from board games, lowbrow culture, leftist writing and erotica. While his preferred choice of media is the visual—working across graphic design, illustration and photography—he remains open to experimentation and has also dabbled with simulation and card games. His current area of interest lies in the study and visualization of spaces—natural, built and imagined. Having entered Art in Transit as a way of engaging with the city of Bangalore, his current place of residence, he also dreams of being able to turn his attention to gardening and architecture.
